Some reasons why exercising can help you have a better winter this year!

Brain Health

Exercise increases blood flow, oxygen and nutrient delivery to the brain, and encourages the release of hormones, growth of new brain cells and neural pathways. Put simply, exercising our bodies helps prevent cognitive decline and increases our mental acuity.

Mood Boost

Research has proven exercise can help decrease depression, anxiety and improve your emotional well-being. Working out releases endorphins and mood-boosting chemicals that produce feelings of euphoria and happiness.

Self-Esteem

Consistent exercise can also offer a sense of control over your well-being, leading to better self-esteem and motivation. Setting and achieving goals, sticking with a routine and overcoming adversity in the gym can offer a sense of accomplishment and confidence in your abilities.

Better Sleep

Daily movement can help regulate your circadian rhythm which in turn helps you fall asleep faster and sleep deeper. Getting a good nights sleep is essential for our mood regulation and emotional well-being.

Stress Less

While exercise is technically a physical stressor, time in the gym can be a great way to unplug and to be more present and mindful. Training gives you the space and time to focus on yourself, while surrounded by a supportive and fun community.

Breathe

Breathing stimulates the parasympathetic “rest and digest” nervous system, to reduce the harmful effects of stress and anxiety. When we take deep breaths in during our warm up or cool down we are then able to reduce our anxiety, tension and stress in the body. This helps us recover better and feel better.

Exercise is a great tool to feel better this winter season and all year round. We look forward to seeing you at Westside!
